Los Angeles DUI Lawyer Lawrence Taylor
With more than 35 years of experience, Lawrence Eric Taylor is one of only 5 attorneys in California who is Board-certified as a DUI defense specialist. Before he began his private practice, Mr. Taylor was first a deputy public defender and then deputy district attorney in Los Angeles. In People vs. Charles Manson, he served as the trial judge's legal advisor, and later was appointed appellate counsel in the California Supreme Court appeal of the Onion Field murder case. He also conducted a one-year grand jury probe of governmental corruption for the Attorney General of Montana. Mr. Taylor is a former Marine and graduate of the University of California at Berkeley (1966) and the UCLA School of Law (1969).
In 1983, Mr. Taylor was voted Professor of the Year
when he taught at Gonzaga University School of Law. He was invited to be Visiting Professor at Pepperdine University Law School, and in 1985 was finally appointed Fulbright Professor of Law at Osaka University in Japan. Mr. Taylor has more than 25 years of experience as a popular lecturer on DUI trial techniques and constitutional issues at over 200 seminars in 38 states, including those sponsored by the American Bar Association, American Association for Justice (formerly the Association of Trial Lawyers of America), National Association of Criminal Defense Lawyers and numerous state bar associations including the California State Bar.
The author of over 30 articles and 12 books, including the standard texts on DUI / DWI litigation, Drunk Driving Defense, 7th edition (N.Y.: Aspen Law and Business) and California Drunk Driving Defense, 4th edition (St. Paul, MN: West Publishing), Mr. Taylor maintains a popular DUI blogsite where he discusses the defects, fallacies and Constitutional damage of the war on drunk driving.
Mr. Taylor is one of the original 10 founders of the National College for DUI Defense. He served on the Board of Regents and was elected Dean for 1995-1996. He also serves as Wikipedia contributing editor on DUI legal issues. He has been a member of the United States Supreme Court Bar for 31 years, the California State Bar for 37 years, Los Angeles County Bar Association, Orange County Bar Association and National College for DUI Defense. On July 25, 2002, at Harvard Law School, Mr. Taylor was presented with the National College's Richard Erwin Lifetime Achievement Award.
